Sunday 30th March 2008 Sticks turn to ash, Smoky prayers. Redundant? Woke up at 6.10am for Ching Ming. Went to Mandai Crematorium. Can't say i love doing or believe in all these annual rituals but i gotta respect them cos my father's side is mostly buddhist. At the crematorium, it was raining ash which made it difficult to breathe. Talk about second-hand smoking! The buildings were named after flowers and there were three levels each. The second level was where all the ashes of the deceased, whom were christian, were kept. So it was a joss stick-free! A perfect place to take a breather. The only interesting thing there, besides bumping into Wei Jun (TSS), was the huge outdoor furnace. Haha. It was bleeding hot there. The workers who had to loosen up the burning as to make more room for other stuff to burn had to cover their faces with soaked cloth. Not one of the greatest occupations on Earth. Heh. Today. 31st March 2008 School was fun today. Ms Manjit lectured us on what a good composition should comprise. She also gave us hilarious samples of the shittiest compos she has read in her teaching life. One of them was about the Life of a Kaurn(?) at Kaurn(?) Country(maybe its Corn) and the other was a ridiculous story of how the writer refused to let the character die unless he was crushed by a tree. Really stupid. She gave everyone a group assignment to write an intro of a composition with the theme 'Misunderstood'. We wanted to tease Tony and Amaryllis (who were the group next to us) so Amanda, Mei Yern, Daniel and I devised a plot about Amaryllis and Tony as karate sparring partners and yada yada yada for our compo. Here's a rough extract: "Amaryllis pounced at Tony with a Super Karate kick. Tony was mesmerised by her well shaved legs that glowed in slow motion. He was so dumbfounded that it was like he invited the kick to his face. He fell with a thud." Haha. Its that stupid! Haha. After school, Si Min, Jennifer, Jin and I went to Jurong East to check the designs for our class shirts. It took a long while but it was KINDA worth it. we managed to finalise on the design. We just need the votes of 4E1 on the type of shirt they want. The lady said it should cost around or less than $20. :D Hope we get our class shirts done soon. We didn't get to do one last year. |
