Greetings from the land of a 'Truly Asian' experience. More specifically, the 'Cat City' (meowrrr)- Kuching! The first thing we bought once we touched down in Kuching airport, safely brought across from Singapore to Malaysia by SilkAir, was... Golden Tequila! Excited? Yes.
We taxi or, otherwise known in Malaysia as, teksi our way to Permai Rainforest Resort, intending to spend our first night in one of their special treehouses. However, it turned out to be a normal reasonably facilitated hut on reinforced stilts. But at least we're more or less in the trees and its all about the experience eh? What we do for the day: Explore a little, lunching at their cafe, and... KAYAKING!!! With brother at the back, we arm thrusted our way as far from the beach as possible. With alot of difficulty, we beat those damn waves crushing back to land and starting pedaling. From an slightly isolated tree at the tip of the coast to a rock out at open sea. The South China Sea, that is. I got a little sea sick towards the last quarter of our sailing excursion and persuaded my brother to pedal back to shore. He sang 'Row Row Row Your Boat' at this ridiculously monotonous rythym, which didn't helping. When upon having to return our rented kayak, we saw tiny hermit crabs struggling on shore against the waves. It was fun, to see them suffer. Every time being burried under the sand and popping out again. We took some and put it on our kayak before returning the thingamajig. A little thank you present for the guy who works there. Drove out to have seafood. Quite okay. Had to net our own fish from the tank. Well, TRY to net. I drank line juice diluted tequila. Had a bitsy taste of vomit.
Morning, we had breakfast. Woke up to a lie. Dad said it was 10am and the free buffet breakfast ends in half an hour. But when i reached the cafe, it was only 9.40am. My father's sneaky tactics. Before checking out, we do a little mountain trekking. It was fun. Lots of roots, leave, slippery rocks, streams and hideously large ants. We saw a Longtail Macaque.
Our next intended destination of temporal residation- some National Park. Lots of animals- Sunbears, Bear cats, porcupines and Orang Utans! The orangies were cheaky! They saw that we had bananas and stood against the wall, arms reaching out, gesturing to give the fruits to them. We had our little sadistic fun of tempting them. But one of them threw a stick at us! Crazy thing! The long house was disgusting. We saw this huge kiss bug and decided to go straight to the city to stay. Sharing a teksi with this South African Lawyer Lady named Saranne (very 'Tonks'-sey with red spiky hair), she adviced us to spend the night at where i am now. This lushious, tranquil travellers inn called SINGGAHSANA LODGE! (http://www.singgahsana.com/main.html) It was such a shock to us to see such an amazing place. You have t take your shoes before entering. You dont get to wear them anywhere in the premises unless you're leaving. There are clean common bathrooms. Gender seperated, ofcourse. Went around to sight see in the evening and have dinner. Came back comfy with KFC. Very close to Hilton, our next hotel for the night. But i think we're going to find it hard to leave here already.
WELCOME BACK SERENEEE AND WINONAAA!!!
I miss you guys. Especially, (at the moment) Serene, Winona and Si Min!
